The artifact, archive, and library collections at the Burlington County Historical Society are important resources for researchers interested in exploring New Jersey, Burlington County, family history, and genealogy.
IMPORTANT: Due to COVID-19 we can only accommodate 2 researchers per time slot. You must book an appointment, we will not accept walk-in researchers. In addition all researchers must wear a face mask and show proof of vaccination. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Research Hours are:
- Wednesday: 10am to 12pm,* & 1:30pm to 3:30pm
- Thursday: 10am to 12pm,* & 1:30pm to 3:30pm
- Friday: 10am to 12pm,* & 1:30pm to 3:30pm
- Saturday: 2pm to 4pm
* 12pm to 1:30pm is lunch hour and we ask that researchers who have booked both the morning and afternoon time slots to observe our break.

The Historical Society’s collections are the physical witnesses to Burlington County and the region’s rich past. They are the storytellers. They offer us a way to touch and explore our shared past. Highlights from the collection include a beautiful marble mantle that once graced Joseph Bonaparte’s estate in Bordentown, a chair crafted by William Penn’s son John, a rickshaw from the Birch carriage company, 19th-century photographs of veterans of the American Revolution, the beautiful and expansive Lippincott family tree, a touching collection of Civil War letters written by a young soldier to his sister, tall case clocks crafted here in the 18th-century, and the door handle of the print shop that employed a young Benjamin Franklin.
